What have people tried?
The POW recommends starting with shorter paths...and looking for patterns.
What tools could help us see patterns?

I used a shorter paths, and found a pattern, and used that pattern to find all the possibilities in 2-inch by 20-inch.
I drew out up to 10 blocks long and haven't really found a definite pattern yet. Maybe I'm doing it wrong...
Looking at this problem i drew different ways that the stones could be placed and i am still struggling with it.
Out of curiosity, how many patterns did you find for a 2x4 path?
2x5?
I don't know if I did it wrong, but I for the 2X4 I got 4 patterns. For 2X5 I got, 7 patterns.
So basically i've tried drawing it over and over and i can't seem to find a pattern...this is hard & i don't know how else to approach the problem..
Does anyone agree or disagree with allison's results?
so i've been working on this for almost 2 days and i'm still confused. anytips?
I so dont think im doing this right, hopefully i can write it well cuz woooooo
I drew all of the patterns that I could think of from 2x1 to 2x5, and then attempted to use the pattern I found for 2x20. It worked!
Why dont you all take a good look at the Fibonacci sequence and see if that helps
Great idea. I think that It may be helpful. My colleague had also used Fibonacci sequence. He has also drew lots of pattern like 2 by 1 or 8.
