3. 25 mph for 275 mi and 75 mph for 275 mi

1.) 55mph
2.) 57.6mph
3.) it was going 25mph for 275 miles due to rail construction or something, then sped up to 75 mph for 275 miles.
4.a) the last two hours
b) hour 5 (~4:45)
c) wherever the highest slope is, but around the middle, I'd say, because at both ends of the graph, the slope is decreasing because the train is either speeding up or slowing down

3. (This one was really fun!)
40 mph for 1.5 hours
60 mph for 1.5 hours

4a. The last two hours (I think...)
4b. Between hours 5 and 6
4c. 5.5 hours into the trip (I think...)

4a. last 2 hours
4b. from hours 5-6
4c. 5.5 because it is right after the graph increases the most in its slope and before it begins to decrease in its slope.

4a. The last two hours.
4b. 5-6
4c. 5.5 hours, because this is the point that is right at the middle of the curve.

3. The train left for Pennsylvania at 5AM. It took 550 miles to get there. For the first 5 hours, the speed of the train was constant at 50 mph. At 10AM , 250 miles were traveled. Then the train rode at 45 mph. By 12PM, the train slowed down again and was running at 30mph. At 2PM the train returned to the original speed of 50 mph. The train arrived at Pennsylvania at 5PM.
4a. The last two hours.
4b. Hours 5-6
4c. I would choose 5-5.5 hours because it is at the middle of the time elapsed and at the middle of the miles traveled. Perhaps because the train was gaining pace at this point because it was in the middle of the trip [not the end or the beginning].

2) 49 mph

4a) last 2 hours
4b) 5-6 hours
4c) 5.5 hours at 300 miles because it goes the furthest distance in the least amount of time

3) For half the time, 5.5 hours, the train traveled 49 mph. When the train reached 269.5 miles, which is how far it would have gone at 49 mph for 5.5. hours, it speeds up to 51 mph because the conducter takes some speed up the train drugs (though this situation does not condone drug ussage of any sort) and the train spends the remaining 280.5 miles in peace and funkadelicaness.

Conan Huang - Period 1

1. 55 miles per hour

2. about 57.65 miles per hour

3. The train travels at 100 mph for the first hour. Then, a bunny jumps onto the tracks, the conducter is then forced to stop for the super cute bunny. The train contains magic brakes and engines that accelerate and decelerates in no time at all! Conan Huang then throws a bucket of carrots for the bunny to eat. After one hour total, the bunny teleports into Happy Land. The train then accelerates to 50 mph for the remaining distance which takes up 8 hours.

4a. Technically, the graph does not display an accurate representation, but it appears that the last two hours is faster than the first two hours.

1. 550 milles/ 10 hours = 55 miles/hour
2. 10-1.5=8.5 hours
550-60=490 miles
490 miles/8.5 hours= 58 miles/hour
3. For the first 5.5 hours, the train travels at 40 miles/hour, and travels 220 miles. For the second 5.5 hours, the train travels at 60 miles/hour, and goes the remaining 330 miles.
4. a. faster during the last two
b. from 6 to 7
c. About 5:30, because that seems to be when the line inclines the most steeply.
I don't have any questions. I think I got mostly the same answers as other people. Which means they're probably right. woohoo math!

3.The train leaves the station traveling at a rate of 60 mph for the first hour. The next hour it travels for 40 hours. This cycle continues until the last hour, where the train travels at a rate of 50 mph.
4.a The last 2 hours because it appears more steep.
b. I thought it was 5 to 6 hrs, because the line look more steep than the rest.
c.Somewhere around the fifth and sixth hour of the trip would the highest speed be found because the highest rate of change was found in the 5th and 6th hour. Logically you would assume that the highest average or change would have the highest speed.

What questions do you have about HW4?

- Are my answers right?!

What questions do you have about your fellow students' answers?

-None really

What difficulties did you encounter with this homework?

-Number 4 was kind of tricky because I wasnt really sure about my answers but i just went by how the graph looked.

b. Between 5 and 6 hours.

c) At 8 hours because the points it's between hour 7, which is the starting to speed up, and hour 9, which is beginning to slow down because it is close to it's destination. So hour 8 is like the peak of the slope.
