What have you tried? What results did you find? Please share them with us.

This is very interesting.

Here is a hint.
(a method I used)

As you model the POW, (probably with just pieces of paper or objects)
try to calculate the number of move it takes to place the largest circle on the left side to the right side. I called this the "middle" point because after this point, you just have to move all the other smaller pieces on top of this largest one.

Hey! It's Anonymous 9:29. I will be known as "Thisguy" from now on. So this is an interesting problem. How are equations expressed on a graph? What patterns do you see? What do the points look like? If there are any points out of the pattern, test it again to see if you get a lower number of moves. Just test and repeat.

Hope this helps!

I can't solve any higher than 5. I tried 8 and I am up to 180 moves and I still have not transferred all 8. Is there a trick to doing this?

Anonymous 8:33,

Why did you jump from 5 to 8? Why not do 6 and 7 before you do 8? Can you organize your results in a table of values? "Thisguy" has some really good questions...how can you express your table of values as a graph?
